Binge-Eating

Binge-eating is defined as eating extremely large quantities of food in a short amount of time and in a voracious and uncontrolled fashion where one feels unable to stop.

Binges tend to be spontaneous, unplanned and impulsive acts, often triggered by feelings of tension, anger or hunger. Commonly, binges will cease only when the person feels uncomfortably or even painfully full. Many individuals describe feeling as if they are in a trance during the binge-eating episode.

Binge-eating is a key feature of Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, and Anorexia Nervosa, Binge-Eating/Purging Type.
