Overview of Dependent Personality Disorder

Dependent Personality Disorder describes people who see themselves as powerless, helpless or ineffectual, and who thus turn to others for constant support and reassurance. They will usually come accross as submissive, and happy to yield to others who they view as strong, capable and a source of support.

Very little is known about the causes or course of this condition. Psychotherapy is likely an effective treatment.
